Description: This class is a rigorous, logical, and systematic approach to Algebra II, and continues building on the concepts learned in Algebra I. With a systematic, orderly presentation of concepts, and plenty of time for review, your student will gain a strong foundation for Precalculus. Homework, quizzes, and tests will be submitted by scanning and uploading, avoiding the technical problems and lack of personal feedback associated with “automatically graded” math quizzes. This class is worth 1 high school credit in Mathematics.
Grade Level: 9-12
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Algebra I with an A or B through Memoria Press Online Academy (or using the Algebra I text at home). If your student is using another program then we can provide parents with an entrance exam to test for placement. Email email@example.com for this exam.
Required Materials: Algebra II Textbook by Prentice Hall (Classics edition). You do not need to order quizzes or tests, as these will be provided. Students will also need a USB headset (built-in microphones also work). Students must have one of the following graphing calculators for the second semester: TI-83, TI-83+, TI-84, or TI-84+. Some kind of scanner will be needed. Conventional scanners are fine, but if parents have a smart phone, they can convert pictures taken with a smart phone to PDF documents. Then it can be emailed directly to the instructor. Students can also purchase a tablet for working problems in class, although it is not required. Most have simply used their computer’s mouse.
