Anatomy & Physiology

Description: Designed to follow our Biology course, this rigorous Human Anatomy & Physiology class systematically covers each human body system. Students will learn the structure, parts, and functions of major organs within each system and of each system itself. We will discuss how each system fits into the body as a whole, how they relate to each other, and how God has designed our bodies to maintain homeostasis. Conscientious reading and studying will help students understand the body in new and fascinating ways. Topics covered include the skeletal and muscular systems, the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and nerve impulses, sodium & potassium pump, hormones, the digestive system, and more. This course will help students prepare for a university-level Anatomy course (required for many medical professional programs). The textbook used is a college level text, therefore strong reading and studiousness is required. Students should expect to spend at least 60 minutes per day on this class. This class is worth 1 high school credit in Science.

Labs: This class has at least 5 required labs using low-cost household or easily obtained items. More information and a detailed list will be provided to the students.
