Classical Studies Seminar

Description: Join us for an intensive trek through history, with an emphasis on Biblical events that will keep your student focused, interested, and free from idleness over the summer months. Students will learn about the major people and events of the Bible, Greek Myths, and Famous Men of Rome. These are mainly the highlights of each text, from beginning to end, to help your student trace the larger narrative. There is a good deal of reading involved, and it’s a great way for your student to gain a solid grasp of the basic contours of history. Plus, they’ll have fun doing it.  The cost of the course includes weekly class time with the instructor, quizzes and a 24/7 question forum. Class times are 90 minutes long

Grade Level: 5+

Prerequisites: There are no formal prerequisites, but a basic knowledge of Bible stories and some of the characters of Greek Mythology and Roman History is helpful. This class can serve as a review or an introductory class.

 Required Materials: Golden Children’s Bible, D’Aulaires Greek Myths (text), and Famous Men of Rome (text). Students will also need a headset microphone (built-in microphones will also work).
