Famous Men of Greece

Description: An introduction to the characters and events of ancient Greece. The student will enter into the lives and minds of over thirty famous Greeks, including Achilles, Leonidas of Thermopylae, Pericles, Socrates, Alexander the Great, Aristotle, and many more. Covering thirty of the most important thinkers, students will gain an appreciation of Greece’s triumphs and challenges, which will enable them to grasp the scope of Greek accomplishments, many of which still echo in our culture today. Students will learn famous names, key events, classical geography, and vocabulary and fact drills through the use of comprehension questions, memorization of facts, vocabulary, drawing, and picture review. Students will need to devote 30-45 minutes per day for this class. The grade will be based on participation, weekly quizzes, enrichment assignments, and an exam.

Grade Level: 6-8 (ages 11-14)

Prerequisites: None

Required Materials: Famous Men of Greece text, Student Guide, and Ancient Civilization Wall Maps.  Horatius at the Bridge text and Student Guide. Teacher Guides and Flashcards are optional. Students will also need a headset microphone (built-in microphones will also work).
