Sixth Grade Literature

Description: Our teachers will guide students through Adam of the RoadThe Door in The WallRobin Hood, and King Arthur. As they read The Door In The Wall, they’ll experience the sights and sounds of medieval England, and that heroism, strength, and service to others take many forms. They’ll become acquainted with life in medieval times as they follow Adam in Adam of the Road, as a story about a boy, his father, and his dog quickly turns into a daunting quest. And as they follow the daring and surprising adventures of Robin Hood and King Arthur, they’ll become captivated by the high and mighty being brought low, the humble exalted, and justice for those who would harm the defenseless. Using our literature guides as a springboard, we’ll teach students to become more active readers and increase their vocabulary and comprehension skills. Students will think deeply through the stories and learn to identify the important characters, events, and themes. One book per quarter is read and daily time spent on reading will vary per student. The grade is based upon active in-class participation, online reading quizzes, and enrichment activities.

Grade Level: 5-6 (ages 10-12)
