Susan Strickland, a native of California, earned a BA in Music (Vocal Performance) from UCLA and began teaching Latin almost twenty years ago to her own children while homeschooling. For some inexplicable reason she became addicted to studying Latin and has not stopped since. She continued her studies in Latin literature at the University of Southern Maine. In addition to teaching her own children, Mrs. Strickland was an instructor at Maine Classical Christian School in Freeport for three years; substitutes for Latin classes at the local high school; teaches at a local homeschooling co-op; tutors privately. She enjoys editing, developing, and writing Latin curricula as well. Having used Memoria Press Latin curricula for years, she is thrilled to be part of the online faculty of MPOA to teach Third and Fourth Form Latin as well as the National Latin Exam prep courses. Mrs. Strickland lives in Maine and is married to Frank, an accountant and avid hiker. They have three grown children and one grandson. She has sung professionally in the mid-coast region of Maine and enjoys good coffee and conversation, reading, swimming, biking, and pizza on the beach. She is a member of Grace Reformed Baptist Church.
