Third Grade Literature

Description: This introductory grammar school literature course will guide your students through some of the most beloved children’s literature, using the Memoria Press 3rd Grade Literature selections: Farmer BoyCharlotte’s WebA Bear Called Paddington, and Mr. Popper’s Penguins. As your student progresses through this course, the use of our literature study guides will train your student to become an active reader. The course, in conjunction with the guides, will focus on the storyline of each book, plus vocabulary, spelling, comprehension, and composition skills. Students will be prepared for each chapter, and the comprehension questions will teach your student to think about what they have read and to learn to identify the important content of each story. These comprehension questions will also teach your student the advanced skill of composing a clear, concise answer to a question. Students will read one book per quarter, and daily time spent on reading will vary by student. The grade is based on participation, online quizzes that test the student’s knowledge of the reading, and one enrichment activity per book. This is submitted online to the instructor and is manually graded.
